During these uncertain times, our local farmers want to contribute to local Nevada communities, so we are working together across the industry to help get dairy products to you and your family during these difficult times. We know milk is an important part of a nutritious diet for families and how it can be harder to get for those in need.

WHAT:
The coronavirus crisis is straining food banks, causing surging numbers of people in need. An initiative by America’s dairy farmers, in partnership with Three Square Food Bank and On the Go Marketing, Corp., is putting more milk in the hands of families in need. Starting Monday, April 27, a refrigeration truck will deliver 2,500 gallons of milk per week to four food distribution sites. Each of the four sites will serve meals to approximately 500 vehicles in a four-hour period four days a week. The refrigeration truck will do bulk drop offs of milk the remaining days of the week. The milk is generously provided by Ponderosa Dairy and processor Meadow Gold, and On the Go Marketing will provide the refrigeration truck and staffing.

Milk is one of the most requested, but least donated, items at food banks. Milk contains nine essential nutrients and is the No. 1 food source of three out of four nutrients of concern in the U.S. Dietary Guidelines: calcium, vitamin D, and potassium.
